For someone who takes a lot of photos and video, it's certainly better than endlessly scrolling your camera roll to find that one photo of that one time you did that one thing. Add in the extra editing tools, eventual cloud storage and other features and it seems well worth the $10 a year. And you can organize them by anything you want, from activities you do or places and events, to people and pets or all your favorite food photos. This is the one solution to play, trim and export everything GoPro. Again, every photo or video you have on your phone that's worth keeping can instantly be sorted for easy viewing or sharing without opening Quik. Take your GoPro footage to the next level.

There is no option to play the other chapters even though the video thumbnail shows a time stamp that is the full length of the video.

Creating and updating Murals quickly became addictive. When I upload a long video (1-2 hours) directly from the my GroPro 9 to the cloud, playback in the Quik app appears to be limited to the first 'chapter' (about 13 minutes). I tested a beta version of the app, though it's available now for iOS and Android.

Tap it and you can choose to add it to an existing Mural or create a new one. A Quik "share to Mural" option appears alongside your other sharing options for photos and videos. And you can continue to build out the Mural, too, by instantly adding content without even opening the app. More importantly, Quik made it possible to quickly pull together a group of my best shots into one spot. The clip is just kind of a bonus for building the Mural, though. The tools can be used to edit any other content you have, too. You can leave the clip as is or edit it yourself with the built-in tools I removed some audio that the app left in from one of my videos, but otherwise it turned out just fine.

Open app on phone, go to GoPro tab Power on camera, go to Media tab open any App video to play it rotate phone to Landscape Quik crashes Do the same but with no camera connected and its fine. It could be that your hardware is outdated enough and it won’t even work with the HEVC extension.

So try the free extension first and see if it works. When the Mural is created, the app also puts together a short, shareable video clip from your imported content complete with music and effects. Quik on iOS crashes when playing video with GP connected, ok when not connected. If you don’t have either extension installed and you try to play back an HEVC file in Quik for Desktop it will just freeze and not work anymore. Murals, once created, can be updated with new photos and videos.
